Pink for the Cure at Cutlass

Last weekend, Dusk and Jenni planned a lovely "Pink at Cutlass" evening.  Since I love the color pink, I was in heaven with all the beautiful shades of pink friends around me!

We had a fun evening with Dusk's classic music and it felt like coming home again.

Thank you Dusk, for the sweet music and event!  Thank you Jenni, for providing our team with a lovely venue at Club Cutlass for the past five years!

Bid Me Human!

Our sweet foxy SL News Reporter, Bixyl Shuftan, volunteered himself for our Bid Me Human event in Southern Colorado on Friday night.

He reached Human status within the first 15 minutes of bidding, raising L$5000 for the first week of Human-ness and L$1000 per additional day.  The total raised was L$29,000, and Bixyl will be Human for a month!

Special thanks to Nuala Maracas for rescuing us when our DJ was detained.  While Nuala has her own team, the Relay Rockers, she showed her true Spirit of Relay by heading over on a moment's notice to help our team.  She then spent two hours playing some wonderful music, while bringing over many of her own teammates for our Event.

We all had a great time taking turns sitting in Lomgren's Transmogulator, built just for this event.  I hope we'll get a chance to use it again soon!  What a great team we have!

Team Relay for Hope

I'm late in adding this post, but it's a story that needs to be told, and told often, because I want the whole world to know.

Early in April, Daaneth Kivioq  was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit after suffering a debilitating Cardiovascular Accident. From its inception, Daan has been a driving force behind the Passionate Redheads Team.  It is an understatement to say we were all in a terrible state of grief.  Our fundraising efforts ground to a halt as we waited breathlessly for some word of Daan's condition.

Just three days after getting the news of Daan's stroke,  Evangaline Ling, Captain of Relay for Hope, came to me and offered to throw a Get Well Daaneth fundraising Event for our team.  There would be no work for us to do, she explained.  "We'll put out Passionate Redheads Kiosks and collect donations for your team in honor of Daaneth."  All we had to do was show up.

The generosity of this offer can only be understood if you've planned a fundaising Event in Second Life.  It takes days of painstaking details to work out.  Team Relay for Hope arranged everything; from obtaining space on ACS Island, to the wonderful music, even setting out Team Kiosks!  Team Cure Chasers decorated the stage and dance floor in a beautiful and festive display.  DJ Shayla volunteered her time and played for us some beautiful and uplifting music for the first hour.  In the second hour, DJ Dusk chose some of Daan's personal favorites, including Daan's "Theme Song, Rocky Mountain High."

I think I cried the whole two hours.  What an outpouring of love for Daaneth, for me, and for the Passionate Redheads Team!

It is said that we don't remember the words people say, but we remember how they made us feel.  I can honestly say that I can't remember much about those first weeks after Daan's stroke, but I will remember forever how very much love I felt.  I'll remember it for the rest of my life.

Thank you, Evangeline and Team Relay for Hope, Cure Chasers, and all who came to show support to Daaneth, to me, and to the team.  Daan is recovering well, and our hearts are forever changed by the love we've experienced in the Relay for Life.

Welcome Home, Daaneth!

Some of you may have seen Daaneth back in Second Life this week.  He's not snubbing you; he can't type!

Daaneth suffered a stroke last month and his recovery has been miraculous!  He is back home and doing well.  A speech therapist has been coming to work with him on his typing skills.

He can read your IM's and your notecards.  He has begun typing one or two word responses.
Daaneth sounds great, and he is able to use voice in SL.

Than you to all who have sent words of encouragement to Daaneth and to me!  The outpouring of love and support has been heartwarming.  I've saved every word.

I always remember to say prayers of Gratitude.  I remain ever grateful for the friendship and love of  my beautiful and loving Team mates, the Passionate, Compassionate, Redheads.

With Love,
Sabine
